Turn New Year resolutions into experiencing someplace new

“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” - Dalai Lama

Those ‘at first sight’ feels.

I’ll never forget the moment when I made a point of looking down at my 5 year old feet and taking the first step through the entrance doors into Dreamworld on the Gold Coast.

Or that time we travelled 2000kms to walk down the sandy path to a spot frequently listed as one of the ‘World’s Most Dangerous Beaches’ at Cape Tribulation in Far North Queensland.

And when we discovered a great picnic spot with a cracking view, just 15 minutes from home and asked ourselves how we had never been there before.

Those first sights that you don’t ever forget, because of how they made you feel or the reactions of your loved ones experiencing someplace new.

Going where you haven’t been before doesn’t have to be interstate or overseas, it could be a place within a 20km radius from home. It could be somewhere you pay a fee to visit or a location that is free to explore. A big bucket list item or a spot you’ve driven past multiple times. Maybe it’s taking a highway exit and driving off the beaten track for 20 minutes on the way to your next destination.

So, if you’re stuck thinking about New Year resolutions for 2025…

Go someplace you’ve never been before.

Take a different route.

Explore your ‘backyard’.

Book that trip.

Pay for an experience.

Drop a pin on your map and go there and back to see how far it is!
